Expert advice and demonstrations to help you get started with Team Foundation Server.

Since 2005, Team Foundation Server (TFS) has been providing integrated version control, work management and build capabilities. The release of TFS 2010 builds on the foundations formed in the earlier 2005 and 2008 products and focuses on lowering the barrier of entry for teams wanting to get the maximum benefit from TFS with minimal implementation fuss.

Come along to this half day RDN Dev Day event to learn what is involved in getting TFS up and running in your development team. Hear from Readify Senior Consultant and Visual Studio ALM MVP, Stephen Godbold and K.J Ross' Microsoft Test Tool Leads, Dr Mark Pedersen and Dr Tafline Murnane.

During this event, Stephen Godbold will cover:

-         What you need to know to deploy and utilise the basic functions of TFS including how to implement version control, build and the beginnings of automation and lab management.

-         The roadmap of what greater deployment/integration will bring, along with the business value this delivers.

-         A glimpse at what a highly optimised and integrated deployment will deliver from a technology and business value perspective.

Following on from this, Dr Mark Pedersen and Dr Tafline Murnane will take you through a quick look at testing, from the point of test lab management and test automation and how it all connects/integrates.

Facilitator of the Canberra VSTS User Group and a regular presenter at industry events throughout Australia, Stephen Godbold is a Microsoft awarded Visual Studio ALM MVP.

He is a contributor to open source projects that supplement TFS's Team Build and Work Item Tracking systems. Through these projects and his work as a Senior Consultant with Readify, he gathers evidence of how TFS is applied in the wild and works actively with the product teams to improve the next wave of ALM solutions.

Mark is the Microsoft test tools lead for K.J. Ross and has a PhD in Usability Evaluation of Natural Language Processing Development Environments. He has experience testing a wide variety of financial and mission critical software systems, as well as developing and delivering a range of professional training courses for the testing industry.

Tafline is a Senior Consultant and Quality Manager for K.J. Ross. Tafline focuses her work primarily in the areas of test management and mentoring, test process improvement and software testing training and education. Tafline holds a PhD in software testing from La Trobe University and is a regular speaker at national and international conferences on software testing.
